Limited Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty

Monument Shutter Co. provides a Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturer defects in the construction of our exterior shutters. This warranty does not cover costs associated with shipping, delivery, finishing, or installation. If the product is deemed defective, we will, at our discretion, repair or replace it.

Exclusions from Warranty

  • All unfinished wood board and batten shutters are not warranted against excessive warping or rot since the inner joints cannot be covered with stain or primer once assembled. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to maintain the shutters in such a way as to prevent rotting and fading.
  • We are not responsible for damage caused by improper storage, handling, or environmental exposure (such as high humidity or extreme heat).
  • Any damage resulting from customer modifications or repairs voids the warranty.

Measurements & Order Accuracy

All Monument shutters are custom made to order. Customers are solely responsible for providing accurate measurements, selecting appropriate designs, and reviewing their order details prior to submission. Monument Shutters and its representatives cannot be held liable for errors in measurements, design choices, or specifications supplied by the customer. Because every order is made to the customer’s specifications, all sales are final and non-refundable.

Proper Storage Recommendations

If you are unable to install the shutters immediately, we recommend unpackaging them from the crate and stacking them upright against a wall, using the foam sheeting to separate each pair. Leaving shutters lying on top of each other can lead to damage, as the weight can compress the foam, causing indentations on the shutters. Please ensure that the foam covers the entire product to prevent the material from touching, which can and will lead to damage if left for too long.

Product Handling and Installation

Upon receipt, shutters must be removed from their packaging and stored in a dry, safe location to prevent damage. Shutters left in packaging are subject to damage not covered by the warranty. Shutters should not be stored in conditions with high humidity or extreme temperatures.

Installation Requirements for Warranty Coverage

  • Installation must follow the instructions provided, and the correct number of hinges must be used based on shutter size:
    • Shutters up to 48″ wide require 2 hinges per panel.
    • Shutters 49″–96″ wide require 3 hinges per panel.
    • Shutters over 96″ wide require 4 hinges per panel.
  • For composite shutters, Clear Lexan Fixed Mounting Hardware must be used for installation to maintain warranty coverage. This hardware is not included but is available for purchase separately.
  • Failure to follow the provided installation guidelines will void the warranty.

Damage Claims

  • Any claim of defect or damage must be reported within 7 days of receiving the shipment.
  • Shipping damage claims made after 10 business days will not be considered.
  • Monument Shutter Co. will not issue refunds. We will replace any damaged or defective products and move replacement orders to the front of the production line.

Painting and Finishing

  • All primed shutters use a grey-colored primer for improved coverage of the final paint. Primed shutters are sold ready to be pre-finished for paint.
  • If paint or primer failure occurs, the manufacturer’s warranty will only apply to the first year after purchase. After a year, claims regarding paint failure should be made through the paint warranty department. Please contact us if you need additional information to submit this claim.
  • Monument Shutter Co. will not cover costs for painting or reinstallation due to repairs or replacements.

Additional Charges

  • Shutters exceeding 90″ in height or 36″ in width will incur a handling charge.

Lead Times & Scheduling

  • All production lead times are provided as estimates and may vary depending on material availability, production schedules, order volume, and external factors outside of Monument Shutters’ control (including weather events or other acts of God).
  • Rush orders may be available upon request and are subject to approval and an additional fee. Customers who require expedited production should contact our team in advance to confirm availability.
  • Please note that expedited shipping applies only to the carrier’s transit time. All production timelines remain subject to the policies outlined above unless a rush order has been approved.

Freight Shipping Instructions

  • Shutters must be unpackaged and inspected immediately upon receipt. Failure to do so results in the customer taking ownership of the freight as-is.
